Job Description

Looking for a hands-on job where you can make a real impact? The Iowa Department of Transportation is hiring temporary full-time Facilities Maintenance Assistants to help keep Iowa's rest areas, welcome centers, weigh stations, and parking sites safe, clean, and running smoothly.
Location:
Western side of
Iowa Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. What you'll do: Support daily operations and upkeep of multiple public-use facilities. Assist with basic repairs and preventative maintenance. Restock supplies and organize equipment. Check on janitorial and lawn care contractors to ensure work meets standards. Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
What you need:
A valid Iowa driver's license. General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and masonry. Ability to work independently and travel between sites as needed. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to learn safety, sanitation, and compliance procedures. Basic computer skills for administrative tasks.
