This is not a desk-only coordinator position, and it is not simply a maintenance technician position. It is a hands-on operational role designed for someone who enjoys fixing problems, working in the field, organizing work, using technology, coordinating others, and helping ensure maintenance issues are handled correctly and completely. The Maintenance Coordinator works alongside our maintenance team while also helping coordinate work orders, preventive maintenance, vendors, inspections, inventory, and daily workflow. Role Summary Under the general supervision of the Parks, Facilities and Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Coordinator helps drive operational excellence across New Territory's parks, common areas, athletic fields, structural facilities, and community amenities. This position combines digital maintenance administration, field coordination, and skilled hands-on maintenance . The Maintenance Coordinator will help administer work-order and asset-management systems, schedule preventive and corrective maintenance, guide daily crew workflow, coordinate vendor and contractor activities, and perform maintenance and repair work alongside field personnel. Excellence Through Consistency Own the Outcome See it Through Listen With Empathy Keep Growing Core Responsibilities Work Orders & Asset Management Generate, prioritize, assign, track, and close daily work orders using the Association's computerized Work Order and Asset Management Systems. Schedule preventive maintenance activities and corrective maintenance needs. Track asset lifecycles, maintenance history, inventory, and supplies. Maintain accurate and timely digital maintenance records. Hands-On Maintenance & Troubleshooting Perform skilled routine and non-routine maintenance and repairs throughout community parks and facilities. Troubleshoot issues involving irrigation systems, plumbing fixtures, low-voltage electrical systems, carpentry, masonry, grounds, and recreation facilities. Work alongside maintenance personnel to help complete projects safely, efficiently, and to established standards. Daily Work Coordination Help establish and adjust daily work priorities based on operational needs. Inspect work locations to determine scope, materials, tools, and staffing requirements. Identify workflow challenges and provide practical troubleshooting assistance to maintenance personnel. Help ensure assigned work is completed, documented, and closed out. Preventive Maintenance Assist in implementing and continuously improving preventive maintenance programs for facilities, structures, vehicles, small engines, power equipment, and community assets. Help identify issues before they become larger or more costly problems. Support efforts to improve safety, reduce downtime, and extend asset life. Quality & Safety Inspections Conduct routine quality-control and safety inspections throughout parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, trails, and facilities. Verify that work performed by staff and contractors meets NTRCA quality expectations and applicable environmental and safety requirements. Identify deficiencies and help ensure corrective work is completed. Contractor & Vendor Coordination Serve as an on-site contact for maintenance contractors and specialty vendors. Monitor work progress and quality against approved scopes of work. Coordinate project logistics to reduce disruption to community operations. Communicate concerns and follow through on unresolved work. Invoice, Purchasing & Budget Support Verify that vendor work has been satisfactorily completed before processing invoices. Prepare check requests and purchase requisitions. Monitor inventory and supply needs. Accurately record maintenance expenditures in departmental budget trackers. Equipment & Fleet Stewardship Safely operate and maintain light trucks, trailers, power equipment, and maintenance tools. Help maintain tool inventory and shop organization. Coordinate scheduled vehicle and equipment maintenance. Reinforce proper equipment use and department safety procedures. Resident & Community Service Interact professionally and respectfully with residents, contractors, civic groups, and community stakeholders. Investigate, document, and help resolve maintenance concerns and service requests. Communicate clearly while maintaining NTRCA's customer-service standards. Safety & Training Help champion a strong departmental safety culture. Support compliance with OSHA requirements, PPE standards, SDS protocols, and the Association's Heat Illness Prevention Plan. Conduct periodic safety discussions and tool inspections. Events & Emergency Response Assist with setup, logistics, and facility readiness for community events. Participate in severe-weather preparedness, disaster recovery, and urgent facility response when needed. Qualifications Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate degree or coursework in Facilities Management, Construction Technology, Horticulture, Parks and Recreation, or a related field preferred. Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in parks maintenance, facility operations, commercial grounds care, building trades, or a related field. At least one (1) year of demonstrated lead-worker, crew-leader, or project-coordination experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education, specialized technical training, and hands-on operational leadership experience may be considered. License Valid State of Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record required. Work Environment This is an active position combining outdoor field work with shop and office responsibilities. The employee will regularly work throughout parks, athletic fields, common areas, and community facilities and may be exposed to South Texas heat, humidity, rain, wind, cold, mechanical equipment, dust, fumes, fertilizers, solvents, and other typical maintenance conditions.
The employee must be comfortable:
Walking and working across uneven terrain and facility environments. Using ladders, stairs, and service ramps. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and occasionally crawling when accessing equipment or building systems. Operating power tools, equipment, light trucks, and trailers. Frequently lifting and moving equipment, materials, or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted. Loads exceeding 50 pounds require mechanical assistance or team-lift techniques. NTRCA follows established safety procedures including PPE requirements, SDS protocols, hearing protection requirements, and a Heat Illness Prevention Plan. 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Friday:
7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Schedule may be adjusted seasonally or based on operational requirements. Because of facility operations, community events, severe weather, and emergency needs, occasional: Evening work Weekend work Holiday work Emergency call-out response may be required. Hours worked over 40 hours in a workweek are eligible for overtime compensation.
Compensation & Benefits Approved Pay Range:
$20.00 to $24.00 per hour , commensurate with qualifications, technical certifications, and relevant experience.
