Job Description

Property Operations (Engineering) Supervisor Tempo by Hilton Gallery Park & Homewood Suites by Hilton Phoenix Mesa Airport Excellence Happens Behind the Scenes. Guests may never know your name. They may never see you leading a team through a preventive maintenance project, responding to a critical HVAC issue, inspecting equipment before it fails, or making sure every guestroom, public space, and building system is operating exactly as it should. But they will experience the results of your work. At Tempo by Hilton Gallery Park and Homewood Suites by Hilton Phoenix Mesa Airport , we believe exceptional hospitality depends on exceptional property operations. Every comfortable guestroom, perfectly conditioned lobby, hot shower, functioning elevator, safe public space, and well-maintained building reflects the skill, leadership, and attention to detail of our Engineering team. We're looking for an experienced Property Operations (Engineering) Supervisor who understands that engineering is more than fixing things—it's about protecting the guest experience, leading people, maintaining the property, and preventing problems before they become guest concerns. As our Property Operations (Engineering) Supervisor, you will help lead the daily operations of the Engineering and Maintenance department while working closely with the Chief Engineer and Director of Operations. You will be a hands-on leader who sets the standard for safety, responsiveness, craftsmanship, cleanliness, and professionalism. What You'll Do Supervise and support the daily operations of the Engineering and Maintenance department. Lead, coach, and develop Engineering team members while establishing clear expectations for performance and accountability. Perform and oversee preventative maintenance programs for guestrooms, public areas, building systems, and equipment. Respond promptly to maintenance requests, emergencies, and operational needs with urgency and professionalism. Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, carpentry, appliances, and general building maintenance issues. Conduct routine inspections of guestrooms, public areas, mechanical spaces, equipment, and building systems. Identify potential problems and take corrective action before they affect guests or hotel operations. Prioritize daily work orders and ensure maintenance requests are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain the physical condition, appearance, safety, and functionality of the hotel to Hilton brand standards. Work closely with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and other departments to resolve maintenance concerns and support a seamless guest experience. Assist with maintaining accurate maintenance records, logs, inspections, and preventative maintenance documentation. Monitor tools, equipment, supplies, and inventory to ensure the department is properly prepared to support hotel operations. Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with hotel policies, Hilton standards, OSHA requirements, and applicable safety regulations. Assist the Chief Engineer with projects, contractors, vendors, inspections, and capital improvements as needed. Respond appropriately to building emergencies and assist with emergency procedures when required. Maintain a professional, organized, and safe Engineering shop and work environment. Be a visible, hands-on leader who is willing to roll up your sleeves and work alongside the Engineering team. Who You Are You understand that engineering is hospitality. You know that a maintenance issue isn't simply a work order—it can affect someone's sleep, comfort, safety, and overall impression of the hotel. You are an experienced hotel engineering professional who can lead a team, troubleshoot problems, prioritize competing demands, and remain calm when something unexpected happens.
You are someone who:
Takes ownership and follows problems through to resolution. Leads by example and isn't afraid to get your hands dirty. Understands the importance of preventive maintenance. Notices the details others overlook. Takes pride in quality workmanship and a well-maintained property. Can diagnose problems and determine the appropriate course of action. Communicates clearly and professionally with guests, team members, managers, and vendors. Can prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced hotel environment. Holds yourself and others accountable for safety, quality, and performance. Is dependable, proactive, resourceful, and solution-oriented. Understands that leadership means supporting the team—not simply giving instructions. Maintains a positive, professional, can-do attitude, especially during unexpected challenges. Most importantly, you understand that every repair, inspection, preventive maintenance task, and interaction contributes to the guest experience. Required Qualifications Previous hotel engineering or hotel maintenance experience is required. Previous supervisory or lead engineering/maintenance experience in a hotel environment strongly preferred. Previous experience working in a full-service, select-service, extended-stay, or similar hotel environment. Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, appliances, and general building maintenance. Experience with preventative maintenance programs and work-order systems. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to safely operate hand and power tools. Ability to read and understand basic equipment manuals, operating instructions, and safety procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members, department leaders, vendors, and contractors. Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests and respond appropriately to emergencies. Ability to work independently while also effectively leading and supporting a team. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work requiring bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, standing, walking, and working in mechanical areas. Must be available to work AM, PM, and Overnight shifts. Must be available to work weekends and holidays as hotel operations require. Must be willing to respond to emergency maintenance situations and support the hotel outside of normal working hours when necessary. Shift Flexibility Is Required This is a hotel operation that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
