Service Technician Department:
Service Reports to: Service Manager Position purpose: To evaluate returned merchandise for warranty, process inventory modifications and provide technical support to internal and external customers.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
1. Process and evaluate RMA's and ensure customer satisfaction (fairness) in warranty claims. 2. Document RMA corrective results (RTS, repair, replace, etc.) and all related information. 3. Compose written evaluations on defective components that explain the product's serviceable condition, contributing factors for failure, and warranty status - for customers, sales, or engineering use. 4. Generate repair quotes on non-warranty components that can be rebuilt. 5. Assist Customers with the resolution of product problems through troubleshooting and technical information. 6. Perform repairs on varied equipment. 7. Perform modifications to inventory for special applications and rush orders. 8. Work with Application Engineer on field returns. 9. May travel occasionally to the customer's on-site location for repairs or modifications of components. 10. Perform operational testing of varied components under diverse operating conditions. 11. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. 12. Maintain test equipment. 13. Perform other duties as assigned. 14. Assembly of customer specific product for Sales Orders.
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED/2 year mechanical or technical training preferred.
- Good mechanical skills and experience in product repair.
- Good communication skills on the phone and in person.
- Basic computer skills.
- Requires some heavy lifting - up to 85 pounds frequently.
- Must be able to compose written reports that are clear and concise.
- Must be able to work well with others.
- Be physically able to stand on a concrete floor for 8 hours per day and be available for overtime as needed.
