Elgin, IL Job Summary:
A leading manufacturing company in Elgin is seeking an experienced CNC Machine Set-Up Operator to join their 1st shift team. This position is responsible for setting up and preparing CNC machines for production, ensuring quality standards are met, and maintaining efficient production operations. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and committed to producing high-quality parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Set-up CNC machines for production according to work orders and specifications. Install and adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine components. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and process sheets. Perform first-piece inspections and make machine adjustments as needed. Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot set-up or machining issues. Measure finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment to ensure quality standards are met. Perform tool changes, offsets, and minor machine adjustments. Work closely with machine operators and supervisors to maintain production schedules. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all safety procedures. Complete required production and quality documentation.
Qualifications:
Previous CNC Machine Set-Up experience required. Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings. Experience using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High school diploma or GED preferred. Manufacturing experience is a plus!
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for the duration of the shift. Frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive tasks. Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
