Job Title:
CNC Operator Job Description This role focuses on operating multiple CNC machines in a modern, high-volume precision manufacturing environment. You will run primarily CNC lathes and potentially mills, perform tooling changes and adjustments, and ensure parts meet quality standards through accurate measurement and inspection. This is a direct-hire, second-shift position with opportunities for skill development and career growth. Responsibilities Operate 2-3 CNC machines (primarily Okuma lathes and possibly mills) to produce precision components according to specifications. Load and unload parts from CNC machines safely and efficiently as production requires. Position parts correctly within machine work holding fixtures to ensure accurate machining. Perform machine tooling changes as needed, managing 6-7 different pieces of tooling for various operations. Make process adjustments when necessary to maintain productivity, dimensional accuracy, and overall part quality. Conduct all required in-process and final inspections on machined parts and accurately document inspection results according to established procedures. Use inspection and measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify part dimensions and quality. Perform tool changes, adjustments, tear downs, and setups to support efficient changeovers between jobs. Read and interpret blueprints to understand part requirements, tolerances, and machining operations. Support changeovers and setups on CNC lathes and mills to minimize downtime and optimize production flow. Perform basic program edits as needed (if experienced) to improve cycle times or correct minor issues while maintaining quality standards. Follow all safety guidelines and use required PPE while working around automated CNC equipment. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support a safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing environment. Essential Skills Hands-on CNC experience, preferably with lathes and mills, in a production or manufacturing environment. Ability to perform tool changes, adjustments, tear downs, and setups on CNC machines. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints for machining operations. Strong skills in using measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify part dimensions. Familiarity with CNC controls and platforms such as Fanuc, Haas, and Mazak. Understanding of changeovers and setups to support efficient production. Ability to perform inspections and accurately record results according to quality requirements. High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining part quality and productivity. Consistent work history and interest in building a long-term career and expanding CNC skillset. High school diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience performing CNC setups from start to finish. Ability to make basic CNC program edits to optimize performance or correct minor issues. Experience in high-volume machining or precision automotive component manufacturing. Comfort working with automated machines in a clean, modern production environment. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make process adjustments to improve quality and throughput. Employees receive shift premiums for second and third shift and work within a close-knit culture where colleagues know each other and collaborate closely. Appropriate PPE is required and supported through an annual allowance, and the facility maintains organized work areas and structured processes to promote efficiency, comfort, and work-life balance. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Wooster, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $41600.00- $47840.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
