CNC Wood Router Programmer and Operator Role Overview In this position, you will manage the programming and operation of CNC wood routers to produce bespoke wood-based items. Success in this fast-paced manufacturing setting requires a blend of technical proficiency and expert craftsmanship to interpret complex designs and deliver high-quality custom fabrications under strict time constraints. Primary Duties Utilize VCarve software to program and run CNC wood routing machinery. Construct custom wood items like furniture, platforms, and scenic elements to support project goals. Utilize various workshop tools including drills, saws, sanders, and routers. Analyze technical sketches, blueprints, and shop drawings for accurate production. Work alongside management and design teams to ensure client specifications are achieved. Calculate necessary dimensions and select appropriate materials for each fabrication task. Improve production efficiency by utilizing nesting techniques to reduce material waste. Help maintain consistent output quality to ensure all project deadlines are met. Keep the work area organized and perform routine maintenance on all machinery. Assist with various other fabrication tasks and general shop responsibilities as required. Required Skills and Experience Completion of a trade school program or equivalent professional background. At least two years of hands-on experience working with VCarve programming. Demonstrated proficiency in taking precise measurements using a tape measure. Background in general woodworking and various fabrication methods. Familiarity with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and working with Plexiglas or plastics is beneficial. Preference for candidates with experience handling veneers, laminates, and other specialty materials. Comprehensive knowledge of standard shop machinery and hand tools. Proven ability to translate blueprint specifications into tangible, finished products.
