Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications, and technical drawings to accurately produce parts. Set up CNC machines, including installing tooling, calibrating equipment, and verifying machine parameters before production runs. Operate CNC milling machines and lathes with precision, utilizing tools such as calipers, bore gauges, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to ensure dimensional accuracy. Conduct troubleshooting of machining issues, perform routine maintenance on equipment, and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal performance. Implement lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity. Use CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or Fusion for designing or modifying parts as needed for manufacturing. Ensure all machining activities adhere to safety standards and company policies while maintaining high levels of quality control. Qualifications Proven experience programming and operating CNC machines such as CNC milling machines and CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls or similar CNC controller systems. Proficiency with CAD/CAM software including Mastercam, SolidWorks, or Fusion for part design and programming. Solid understanding of blueprint reading, schematics, GD&T principles, and geometric measurements. Mechanical knowledge of tooling selection, setup procedures, and machining operations. Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Ability to interpret schematics and electrical/discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus. Strong math skills related to geometry, measurements, and tolerances essential for high-precision machining. Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices to improve workflow efficiency.
