CNC CAD/CAM
Programmer specializing in Laser and Punch Press operations to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for laser cutting and punch press machines, ensuring precision, efficiency, and adherence to engineering specifications. This role plays a vital part in streamlining production processes, reducing waste, and maintaining high-quality standards across our metal fabrication operations. The ideal applicant will possess extensive experience with CAD/CAM software, CNC programming, and mechanical blueprint interpretation, contributing to our commitment to manufacturing excellence. Duties Develop and modify CNC programs for laser cutting and punch press machines using CAD/CAM software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent tools. Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to accurately translate design specifications into machine instructions. Set up machining tools and fixtures on CNC machines, including 5-axis CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and other metal machining equipment. Optimize machining parameters by applying lean manufacturing principles to improve cycle times and reduce material waste. Perform precision measurement using tools such as bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement instruments to verify part accuracy. Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, geometry, or machine operation; adjust programs accordingly to maintain quality standards. Collaborate with engineering teams on CAD design modifications and ensure compliance with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards. Conduct routine maintenance checks on CNC equipment and ensure adherence to safety protocols. Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing machining processes and implementing best practices in CNC programming. Skills Extensive experience with CNC programming for laser cutting and punch press machinery. Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar engineering design tools. Strong knowledge of CAM software for generating efficient toolpaths for various CNC machines. Familiarity with Fanuc controls and programming language is highly desirable. Solid understanding of blueprint reading and mechanical blueprint interpretation. Knowledge of CNC tooling setup, machining tool selection, and fixture design. Ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings accurately. Mechanical knowledge related to metal machining processes including 5-axis CNC milling machines and CNC lathes. Experience with measurement techniques using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, CMMs, and other precision instruments. Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to enhance process efficiency. Familiarity with GD&T standards for quality control in manufacturing environments. Strong problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail in a fast-paced production setting. Excellent communication skills for collaboration across engineering and production teams.
