Sansin America is seeking an experienced Wood Finisher / Woodworker to join our team in West Warwick, Rhode Island. We're looking for someone who understands wood and takes pride in producing high-quality finished work. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in wood finishing, cabinetmaking, furniture finishing, millwork or custom woodworking and is comfortable working independently. This is a varied position combining traditional woodworking skills with professional wood finishing, colour work, sample preparation and coating application. Job Duties Prepare wood surfaces through sanding, cleaning and proper surface preparation Apply stains and protective wood finishes using spray, brush and other application methods Operate HVLP and other spray-finishing equipment Cut, prepare, assemble and finish wood components Work with a variety of wood species and understand their different finishing characteristics Match colours, stains and finishes Produce high-quality wood samples and finished presentation pieces Prepare architectural, customer and product samples Assist with product and application testing Evaluate finished surfaces for colour, appearance and consistency Identify and troubleshoot common wood-finishing and application issues Maintain woodworking tools, spray equipment and finishing equipment Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area Work with our technical and sales teams on customer and special projects

Requirements:

5+ years of professional woodworking and/or wood-finishing experience preferred Experience in cabinetmaking, furniture, millwork, custom woodworking or professional wood finishing Strong sanding and surface-preparation skills Experience applying stains and wood finishes Spray/HVLP finishing experience strongly preferred Good understanding of different wood species Strong colour recognition and attention to detail Ability to produce consistent, high-quality finished work Ability to use woodworking hand tools, power tools and shop equipment safely Ability to troubleshoot problems and work independently Strong craftsmanship and pride in finished work

Pay:

$28.00 - $36.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
