DEVELOPMENT TRAINEE - MACHINIST

Full-time, entry-level position. This position will rotate through three machining departments as well as a classroom setting to learn the operation and set-up of various machining tools on CNC and manual machines to produce precision parts efficiently and effectively. Master necessary skills and knowledge including: Machine parts to specifications following instructions, drawings, blueprints and specifications Perform set-ups and machining operations on machines capable of milling, grinding, turning and boring or similar equipment Provide quality assurances of meeting company specifications Grow in machining knowledge and skills in preparation for a Machinist position. Successfully complete each assessment and/ or test in each training block. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to read and understand written instructions. Good mechanical and mathematical skills. Good communication skills. Must be detail oriented and able to actively participate and work in a team environment. Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Vocational/technical education preferred. Any Familiarity with computers. Ability to use and understand metric and standard measurements. Basic understanding of machining concepts (turning, milling, drilling, grinding) Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and technical drawings Familiarity with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) Fundamental math skills, including fractions, decimals, and basic geometry Awareness of shop safety practices and proper use of PPE Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Shop environment. Office environment. Safety-toed safety shoes and safety glasses required. Must be able to regularly lift loads of up to 50 pounds. Work can be strenuous, and includes walking, climbing, kneeling, crawling, squatting, and pulling (such as on torque wrenches) as well as standing for long periods of time.
