Responsibilities:
Machine Operation:
Operate manual lathe machinery to shape, size, and finish metal components according to engineering drawings and precision specifications.
Setup and Adjustments:
Set up and adjust lathe tooling, including three- and four-jaw chucks, collets, and tool holders to meet job-specific requirements.
Blueprint Interpretation:
Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering plans, and technical drawings to determine machining parameters and required dimensions.
Quality Control:
Perform in-process inspections of workpieces using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and thread depth indicators) to ensure compliance with specifications.
Troubleshooting:
Identify and resolve machining issues such as surface finish irregularities, chatter, or tool wear by making necessary adjustments to speed, feed, and tooling.
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform routine preventive maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating equipment, to ensure machines remain at peak working capability and to minimize downtime.
Documentation:
Accurately complete production logs, quality inspection forms, and inventory records for each production run.
Safety Compliance:
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area by adhering to all company safety procedures, shop regulations, and OSHA guidelines.
Working hours:
7:00 AM - 3:30
PM Skills:
Experience in the oil and gas manufacturing industry or production environments. Additional experience with CNC machinery or other manual machine shop equipment (mills, grinders). Prior experience with basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting. Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with team members and management.
Education:
High School Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:
Minimum 1-3 years of proven experience operating manual lathe machinery. Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, engineering plans, and technical drawings. Strong understanding of shop math, including geometry and trigonometry for calculating dimensions and tolerances. Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and indicators. Ability to work in various environmental conditions and maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area. Strong commitment to safety regulations and quality assurance procedures.
