You'll keep looms supplied and running, watch yarn and fabric for defects, and keep equipment clean and records accurate. Key Responsibilities Operate and monitor looms Monitor yarn for tight or loose ends Keep fill yarn supplied on the looms Inspect fabric for defects Clean and maintain looms Keep accurate production records Qualifications One-year certificate from a technical college, or three to six months of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience A minimum of one month of on-the-job training, or until all qualifications are mastered Preferred Skills Basic reading and writing skills Physical Requirements Regularly required to stand; frequently required to walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, push, pull, kneel, crouch, and crawl Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, frequently up to 20 lbs, and constantly up to 10 lbs, including lifting up to 50 lbs from floor to waist and waist to shoulder, and carrying it 20 feet Visual acuity, including color vision, depth perception, and field of vision; hearing Work Environment Tools used include reed and leno hooks and scissors Exposure to extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid conditions, noise, and vibration Exposure to mechanical and atmospheric hazards This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
