Who We Are:
Van Eaton Ready Mix originated in 1998 when Mike Van Eaton purchased the first portable ready-mix plant to produce hog slats for his swine equipment business. Due to high demand, the company has expanded to multiple locations and now offers a wide range of durable concrete products for various applications. They currently operate five portable batch plants that can be set up anywhere in the U.S. to accommodate different projects, from driveways to Wind Turbine foundations across the nation.
Job Summary:
The Plant Manager will supervise day to day concrete plant preparation, production, maintenance, and repair and quality control activities at the batch plant. Must be eager to achieve and maintain a level of excellence in customer service as well as have a high standard of expectations for themselves and those with whom they manage. This is a safety sensitive position. Initially, the candidate will work as an Assistant Plant Manager/Batch Operator learning our processes, with the intent to have a site of their own, which comes with increased pay for the additional responsibility. This position will need to be able to travel/relocate to our Windfarm operations. Salary will commensurate with experience
General Duties:
Exercise discretion and good judgment in supervising the hourly workforce. These tasks include directing, training, counseling, and disciplining to include suspending employees from work or discharge for serious rule infractions or poor job performance as necessary. Conduct hourly employee performance reviews quarterly. Maintain plant housekeeping, environmental, and safety policy to comply with company, state, and local governing rules. Control and minimize plant costs while providing a consistent quality product. Capable of measuring raw material inventories and the ability to order and maintain inventory levels sufficient for the successful ongoing operation of the batch plant. Provide preventative maintenance and the repair of equipment as needed. Ensure that all products meet 100% total quality requirements; take samples and test as necessary; ensure all equipment is working properly; complete all required reports timely and accurately; inform proper personnel of any quality problems that need resolving. Ensure all vehicles and equipment continually remain in safe and efficient operating condition; monitor all preventative and regular maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Maintain adequate levels of all supplies and products (i.e., fuel, cement, admixtures, fiber, etc.); maintain accurate and current reports as required. Collect all COD monies and tickets; complete all required reports and deposits accurately and timely; maintain proper security on all monies. Ensure that all company safety regulations and policies are always followed by creating an attitude of safety. Ensure that all company environmental regulations and policies are followed. Plant Manager will take orders at plant level. Schedule and truck loading will be decided at dispatch level and schedule shipments to meet customer demands.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in the concrete industry required.
  • CDL preferred.
  • Mechanical skills required.
  • General knowledge and ability to troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to direct others in a positive manner.
  • Computer savvy
  • Good aptitude for logistics, planning and scheduling.
  • Superior organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities and projects.
  • Ability to work productively with minimal supervision and under high pressure situations with tight deadlines.
Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Five plus years of ready mix or related experience and/or a combination of both.
