Mod Scenes is looking for an Assistant Operations Manager to help lead our growing multidisciplinary team in Norman, Oklahoma. We are the highest rated stage design company in North America. We provide awesome, high-quality stage design products and technology to clients throughout the US and abroad. We most commonly serve clients in the corporate, church and live events industries. Since 2015, we've grown from a small operation into a company serving some of the biggest names in the production industry. We take pride in the high-quality products we design and manufacture right here in Oklahoma. This role is hands on leadership role. You'll work alongside our Operations Manager to keep the team organized, projects moving forward and the day-to-day operation running smoothly. You won't be sitting behind a desk all day. You'll spend time working with the team, helping prioritize work, solving problems, checking quality and making sure everyone knows what needs to happen next. This role comes with opportunities to grow into a larger leadership role as you develop your skills and take on additional responsibilities. This isn't a traditional manufacturing environment. We create standard products as well as custom scenic solutions, creating plenty of variety and problem-solving opportunities. Here are a few cornerstones of what you can expect:
  • Helping manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities of our team
  • Assigning and prioritizing tasks based on current project needs
  • Monitoring progress and communicating issues to our Operations Manager
  • Assist with identifying bottlenecks and solving problems before they affect deadlines
  • Training and supporting new team members
  • Providing direction and encouragement to team members
  • Ensuring orders are completed accurately and to our quality standards
  • Helping keep the shop organized, safe, and productive
  • Operating equipment and assisting with fabrication when needed
  • Stepping in and helping the team as needed to help the team meet deadlines and take care of our customers Who we're looking for We're looking for someone who enjoys leading people and organizing work.
You don't necessarily need years or management experience, but you do need to be dependable, organized, willing to learn, and comfortable taking responsibility for getting things done. The people who join our team are:

  • Appreciative of humor, puns, and terrible dad jokes Experience Previous leadership, supervisory or project coordination experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person. Experience in any of the following could be a good fit:
  • Team leadership
  • Project management
  • Manufacturing or fabrication
  • Warehouse or production supervision
  • Customer service
  • Logistics Experience in the production industry, CNC equipment, custom fabrication or scenic production is helpful, but not required. You should be comfortable learning new equipment and processes. Experience with CNC equipment, hand tools or fabrication is helpful but not required. What we offer

A final note This is a position based in our Norman shop, this is not a touring position. You may have occasional opportunities for travel, however the focus on this role is assisting with managing our people, processes and production operation from our home base.
