Structural Steel Fabrication Location:
Bellport, NY Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30
PM Compensation:
$1,500-$1,800 per week
Position:
Full-Time We are seeking an experienced, organized, and hands-on Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our structural steel fabrication facility in Bellport, NY. The Operations Manager will be responsible for coordinating production, managing shop personnel, maintaining schedules, overseeing CNC operations, controlling material flow, and ensuring finished products meet our quality and delivery requirements. This position requires someone who can take ownership of the shop's day-to-day operations , solve problems quickly, manage employees effectively, and keep multiple projects moving through production. Responsibilities
  • Schedule and coordinate daily structural steel fabrication work to maximize machine and labor utilization while meeting production deadlines.
  • Manage shop floor personnel and monitor individual and overall production performance.
  • Coordinate workflow between fabrication, welding, CNC operations, material handling, and shipping.
  • Review shop drawings, production paperwork, cut lists, and work orders for accuracy before releasing work to the shop floor.
  • Oversee CNC programming and CNC machine operations.
  • Track projects through the fabrication process and identify potential production delays before they impact schedules.
  • Communicate with project managers, vendors, suppliers, and other team members regarding production requirements and schedules.
  • Coordinate and verify incoming steel, materials, hardware, and other deliveries.
  • Coordinate outbound deliveries and ensure fabricated materials are properly identified, complete, and ready for shipment.
  • Maintain inventory and coordinate material requirements for upcoming fabrication.
  • Maintain production and fabrication standards in accordance with company Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Perform intermittent and final quality-control inspections of fabricated structural steel.
  • Verify dimensions and finished assemblies against approved shop drawings and fabrication requirements.
  • Maintain a strong culture of workplace safety and ensure employees follow company safety procedures.
  • Assist with troubleshooting CNC and fabrication machinery and coordinate outside repair technicians or equipment manufacturers when necessary.
  • Identify opportunities to improve shop efficiency, production workflow, labor utilization, and equipment productivity.
  • Maintain an organized, professional, and productive fabrication facility.
  • Perform additional operational and management duties as required. Requirements
  • Strong can-do, problem-solving, and customer-service-first attitude .
  • Previous experience managing a manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or similar production operation.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and hold shop personnel accountable for productivity and quality.
  • Ability to read and understand shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and production documents.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and CNC programming/operations .
  • Familiarity with automated and integrated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience coordinating production schedules and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, vendors, and management.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Experience with structural steel fabrication is strongly preferred .
  • Knowledge of welding, steel fabrication, machining, material handling, and structural steel production is a major plus.

Compensation & Hours Salary:
$1,500-$1,800 per week, based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM. This is a full-time management position based at our structural steel fabrication facility in Bellport, NY . We are looking for someone who can run the day-to-day production operation—not simply supervise employees. The right candidate will take responsibility for scheduling, personnel, production, quality, materials, equipment, and getting finished steel out the door on time.
Pay:
$78,000.00 - $93,600.00 per year
