Full Job Description Hand Polisher Classification:

Hourly non-exempt

Shift :

3rd starts at 5:30 p.m. (Would train on first shift.) Company Information Xceldyne is the global leader in motorsports valve and valvetrain component manufacturing in the world! Located in Thomasville, NC. Xceldyne engineering and manufacturing facility is focused on the manufacture of highly technical, high-precision titanium, steel, and aluminum performance parts for Formula One and NASCAR racing engines.

Position Summary:

Primary responsibility is to produce high quality engine components. This position executes the final stage in the production of all engine valves manufactured in our facility to ensure the part leaves our facility in pristine condition.

Requirements:

Hand polishes steel and titanium valves on a rotary lathe using different grits of sandpaper and polishing techniques. Uses calipers, micrometers, scales, and an optical comparator to ensure part meets blueprint specifications. Able to subtract, multiply and divide to factors of 10 and in decimals. Ability to convert from English to Metric measuring systems. Read and understand dimensional tolerances from blueprints. Compare those tolerances to parts produced to determine if there are any errors. Meets required pieces per day standards. Meet quality standards based on part order. Daily conducts machine maintenance as needed or required, keeps area clean, replaces tools and materials in a timely manner, keeps items off floor. Essential skills & experience: Very punctual and reliable. Ability to recognize own limitations and willing to ask for help and direction. Willingness to follow departmental and company policies and procedures. Ability to multitask and prioritize based on schedule.

Physical demands and work environment:

Must be able to stand or sit for full shift up to 10 hours, able to walk, and able to lift and move 10 lbs without assistance. Must be able to bend from the waist to load parts and equipment without strain. High levels of noise in some areas of the manufacturing environment.
