About the
    Role:
    As the Manager, Quality Control, you will own inspection workflows, metrology standards, and personnel development supporting VulcanForms? Consumer Technology business. You will coordinate all activities within the Inspection and Metallurgical Laboratories to ensure products meet the highest quality standards in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. This role manages laboratory resources, staffing, equipment, scheduling, and operational performance while standardizing and scaling Quality Control operations. You will also provide executive leadership with data-driven visibility into laboratory performance and product quality. This is an on-site position in Devens, MA.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Own daily operations and long-term scheduling for the QC Inspection Lab and Metallurgical Lab teams
    • Maintain accountability for departmental results, including throughput, staffing levels, capacity, and operational costs
    • Serve as the primary technical advisor for laboratory operations
    • Resolve measurement strategy issues, equipment downtime, inspection bottlenecks, and other technical challenges
    • Establish and enforce engineering standards, laboratory safety protocols, and validation methods for metrology equipment
    • Lead IQ, OQ, and PQ activities for laboratory and inspection equipment
    • Provide Program Managers and executive stakeholders with accurate turnaround-time estimates
    • Proactively manage laboratory capacity to prevent production delays
    • Develop and maintain key performance indicators, including backlog aging, cycle time, and first-pass yield
    • Use quality and laboratory data to drive measurable improvements in efficiency and performance
    • Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and professional development for the Quality Control team
    • Build structured, multi-shift training programs to maintain technical competence as the team grows
    • Ensure the laboratory remains audit-ready for ISO 9001 and customer-specific quality requirements
    • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Digital teams to integrate inspection data into the company?s digital thread, including MES and ERP systems
    • Manage departmental budgets and forecast staffing and resource needs based on production volume
    • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
    Qualifications:
    • 8+ years of experience in Quality Control, Metrology, or Inspection within a high-precision manufacturing environment
    • 3+ years of formal management experience at the Manager, M2, or Lead level
    • Demonstrated success managing a multi-shift technical team
    • Advanced knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
    • Expertise with advanced metrology and inspection equipment, including CMM, GOM/Blue Light, and NDT systems
    • Experience managing departmental budgets, staffing plans, and operational costs
    • Ability to forecast laboratory resource needs based on production requirements
    • Deep understanding of ISO 9001 or AS9100 requirements within a laboratory or manufacturing environment
    • Demonstrated ability to translate complex quality data into clear, actionable narratives for senior management
