Role:
Lead the daily operations, long-term planning, and development of the Quality Control Inspection Department in a 24/7, high-precision manufacturing environment. The Manager, Quality Control will oversee inspection workflows, metrology standards, laboratory resources, staffing, and performance. This role is responsible for scaling QC operations, maintaining audit readiness, supporting production growth, and providing leadership with data-driven visibility into laboratory performance and product quality. This is a full-time, on-site position in Devens, MA.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Own daily operations, scheduling, staffing, throughput, and operating costs for the QC Inspection team
  • Manage laboratory personnel, equipment, facilities, and resources to support production requirements
  • Serve as the primary technical advisor for measurement strategies, equipment downtime, and inspection bottlenecks
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, laboratory safety protocols, and validation methods, including
IQ/OQ/PQ
  • Provide Program Managers and senior leaders with accurate turnaround-time estimates
  • Monitor laboratory capacity and proactively address issues that could delay production
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators, including backlog aging, cycle time, and first-pass yield
  • Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop QC personnel across multiple shifts
  • Create structured training programs to maintain technical competence as the department grows
  • Maintain an audit-ready laboratory supporting ISO 9001, AS9100, customer, and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Digital teams to integrate inspection data with MES and ERP systems
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that increase laboratory efficiency, quality, and scalability
  • Translate complex quality and operational data into clear recommendations for senior management
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience in Quality Control, Metrology, or Inspection within a high-precision manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of formal management experience at the manager, M2, or lead level
  • Demonstrated success managing a multi-shift technical team
  • Advanced knowledge of GD&T and metrology equipment, including CMM, GOM/blue-light scanning, and NDT
  • Experience managing departmental budgets and forecasting staffing and resource requirements
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001 or AS9100 requirements in a laboratory or manufacturing setting
  • Proven ability to analyze quality data and communicate actionable conclusions to senior leadership
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and people-leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience building or scaling a QC laboratory in a high-growth manufacturing environment
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or experience with 5S and Kaizen improvement events
  • Experience with metal additive manufacturing inspection and powder-bed fusion quality control
  • Familiarity with automating inspection data workflows and integrating laboratory results into digital systems
Compensation:
  • Annual Salary Range:
