Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title QA 1 Department Quality Assurance Reports To Quality Assurance Supervisor/Manager FLSA Status Exempt Non-Exempt Employment Type Full-Time Part-Time Position Summary The QA 1 employee is responsible for ensuring that products meet company quality and food safety requirements. This position performs product grading, moisture testing, product classification, data recording, and product posting activities while complying with GMP, HACCP, food defense, allergen control, hygienic zoning, and company safety requirements. Essential Functions Collect product samples in a fast-paced production environment. Accurately grade, test moisture levels, classify, and post product from production lines. Assist other Quality personnel during periods of high workload. Recognize and report defects in both inshell and shelled pistachio products. Perform hand sorting activities when required. Record quality data accurately on written and electronic forms. Verify product categories and weights before posting license plates. Print and post license plates for all products. Notify operators of product quality issues. Report dirty bins or sanitation concerns to appropriate personnel. Complete sample requests for buyers and trade representatives. Perform daily inspections and report non-conformances. Maintain a clean work area throughout the shift. Assist with physical inventory verification activities. Assist in training new QA 1 employees when assigned. Follow all written company policies and procedures. Notify Quality 3 personnel of food safety risks. Adhere to GMP requirements and report violations. Report safety and food safety concerns to management. Provide audit support as required. Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Basic reading and writing skills required. Related work experience preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records. Ability to follow complex procedures and instructions. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of food safety principles, GMPs, HACCP, and quality procedures. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Work Environment Food manufacturing and processing environment. Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, heat, cold, moving machinery, and production equipment. May work around chemicals and food processing materials. Exposure to pistachios and other tree nut allergens. Requires compliance with GMP, food safety, allergen control, hygienic zoning, and safety programs. Requires use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
