JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting the Boiler Operator with the safe and efficient operation of high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment used in sugar processing and co-generation. Work involves monitoring system performance, ensuring reliable steam production, performing routine maintenance, and responding to operational issues to maintain production targets and safety standards. Work is performed under general supervision with limited latitude in the use of initiative. Position exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Inspects the boiler furnace and ensures proper fuel burning Monitors bagasse conveyors and feeders to ensure they are operating properly Operates cleaning systems for boiler grates and soot blowers Assists with starting up, shutting down, and stabilizing boiler systems following established procedures Troubleshoots malfunctions and reports findings on pumps, valves, gauges, burners, and other components of boilers Provides mechanical assistance including general repair, and maintenance of all boiler auxiliary equipment Records operational data, logs, and shift reports Maintains cleanliness and housekeeping of boiler and bagasse handling areas Reports any accidents, mechanical issues or damage to company equipment promptly to the supervisor Works collaboratively with other team members and supervisors to achieve project goals Ensures the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times Follows organizational and public safety guidelines and protocols, performs job functions in a safe manner, and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience in a boiler operation environment; OR a combination of experience, certification, education and training that demonstrates expertise in the related areas.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

May be required to have a valid state of Florida driver license or obtain within a designated period

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in steam and gas-powered boiler-room operations at an industrial facility Experience operating heavy equipment Bilingual - English and Spanish

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of, or ability to learn about, boiler systems, combustion, and steam generation Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards related to operating boiler equipment Skill in using mathematics required for the work Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment Able to safely operate a forklift, manlift, and safely use various hand and power tools, drill presses, measuring tapes and levels Ability to work in industrial environments Ability to adapt quickly to a multicultural environment Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and team leaders Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a service-oriented team Ability to follow safety guidelines and protocols and perform job functions in a safe manner Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, while maintaining consistent performance and adherence to operational standards. REQUIREMENTS

Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds).
