Job Description
About the Role As a Precision Tool and Die Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our high-speed manufacturing processes by crafting, repairing, and optimizing complex progressive dies. You will leverage your expertise in machining and mechanical troubleshooting to ensure our production lines operate at peak efficiency and meet stringent quality standards. Responsibilities Interpret complex engineering blueprints and technical specifications to fabricate high-precision metal components and tooling fixtures. Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on progressive dies, implementing proactive solutions to minimize downtime and prevent recurring mechanical issues. Execute precise setups and operations on manual and CNC machine tools, including mills, lathes, and surface grinders, to achieve tight tolerances. Utilize advanced measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify that all tooling modifications align with exact design requirements. Manage material handling equipment, including overhead cranes and die lifters, to safely transport and position heavy tooling components. Conduct routine preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on production machinery to ensure consistent output quality. Collaborate with engineering teams to suggest design improvements that enhance tooling longevity and manufacturing throughput. Maintain accurate documentation of all repairs, engineering changes, and inventory levels for spare die components. Required Skills Proven experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of progressive stamping dies. Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, GDT, and technical drawings. Strong mathematical aptitude, including the ability to calculate feeds, speeds, and complex geometric dimensions. Expertise in operating a variety of manual and CNC machine tools with high attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and perform root-cause analysis in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Skills Experience with CNC programming and control panel operation. In-depth knowledge of the machining properties of various industrial raw materials. Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor junior staff on machining techniques. Commitment to maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient workspace.
