Position Summary This is a tool and die repair technician position responsible for set up and operate a variety of machine tools in the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on damaged dies. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Maintain and repair dies and detailed tooling components. Measure, examine, and test dies to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments. Determine product dimensions and tolerances. Monitor the accuracy of the dies during the fabricating process. Install and repair die tooling, working with progressive stamping presses. Troubleshoot probable causes of defective parts, and use root-cause failure analysis to make improvements. Interact with Production personnel to improve efficiency of set up times and to minimize machine downtime due to die failures. Utilize both large and small hand tools to perform necessary repairs equipment (mills, grinders, lathes, drill presses, milling machines, shapers.) Read and interpret detailed Engineering drawings and utilize precision measuring equipment Performs all duties to the prescribed standard. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma (or equivalent) required. Must be familiar with progressive, forming and compound dies. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to set-up and operate Tool/Die equipment. Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints required. Use of measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges required.
