Job Description

Job Description Job Summary:
The People & Culture Specialist supports the P&C department with a strong focus on talent acquisition, onboarding, and HRIS system management. This role partners closely with hiring managers to ensure efficient and accurate recruiting and onboarding processes, while maintaining data integrity and timely processing within the HRIS. In addition, the Specialist serves as a front-line resource for employees and visitors, helping foster a positive employee experience and consistent application of HR policies. The role also supports broader HR operations and compliance efforts, including assisting with Title IX investigations through documentation, coordination, and adherence to established procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Support full-cycle talent acquisition activities, including creating and approving job requisitions, managing job postings, reviewing offers, initiating and monitoring background checks, and participating on hiring committees.
  • Partner with hiring managers to support recruitment workflows within Workday, ensuring accuracy of candidate data, requisitions, and overall system integrity.
  • Facilitate onboarding and orientation for new hires, including completion of required documentation, preparation of new hire materials, and delivery of a welcoming and comprehensive orientation.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of onboarding materials, resources, and related processes.
  • Monitor recruitment and onboarding workflows to identify missing or incomplete items and proactively follow up to ensure timely completion.
  • Provide HRIS (Workday) support and troubleshooting for faculty, staff, hiring managers, and new employees, including updates to worker profiles and creation/maintenance of job profiles.
  • Provide guidance on Workday usage and HR processes to ensure effective system adoption and compliance.
  • Collaborate with P&C team members to improve processes, support employee relations, and assist with conflict resolution as needed.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for People & Culture inquiries and walk-in visitors, providing a welcoming and professional presence.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential recruitment and onboarding records, including performing periodic data audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Support process documentation and continuous improvement efforts across talent acquisition and onboarding functions.
  • Stay current on labor and employment laws to support compliant HR practices.
  • Conduct prompt, impartial, thorough, and reliable investigations pertaining to allegations of protected class discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation in accordance with University policies and Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, ADA, and other applicable federal and state laws.
  • Draft comprehensive and concise investigative documentation.
  • Provide general administrative and operational support to the People & Culture team as needed.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Prior experience in a similar HR role is preferred but not always required.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision.
