Department Health Sciences Simulations

Position Category Staff Part Time

Job Description Standardized Patients (SPs) at the Center for Interprofessional Education and Simulation (CIPES) across the Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Health Sciences enterprise in Brandon, Florida, serve as an integral part of the healthcare education team. SPs accurately and consistently portray specific patient cases, behaviors, and physical findings to help medical, nursing, and other health profession students refine their clinical skills in a safe, simulated environment. This role is vital for ensuring high-quality, hands-on training that supports student academic success and optimal patient care across LMUs health sciences programs. This role reports directly to the Standardized Patient Educator for Florida campuses.

Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; no higher education degree required. Acting or role-playing experience preferred, but not required. Strong verbal communication, memory, and interpersonal skills. Ability to read, memorize, and accurately replicate case details, physical symptoms, and behavioral cues. Comfortable undergoing non-invasive physical examinations by health professional students.

Job Duty Accurately and consistently portray specific patient cases, roles, and scenarios following training and rehearsal

Job Duty Simulate all aspects of a patient scenario, including medical history, emotional affect, behavior, and physical findings in a standardized and reliable manner

Job Duty Prepare for assigned simulations by studying case materials and patient roles prior to student encounters.

Job Duty Demonstrate and evaluate history-taking and interviewing skills with medical, nursing, and other health sciences learners

Job Duty Complete checklists and performance evaluations of student interactions accurately, consistently, and objectively.

Job Duty Accept and incorporate trainer and supervisor feedback to continuously refine case portrayals and assessment accuracy.

Job Duty Maintain strict objectivity and confidentiality regarding student performance, cases, and simulation materials

Job Duty Exhibit reliability, flexibility, and punctuality with scheduled training sessions, rehearsals, and simulation events

Job Duty Interact professionally and collaboratively with learners, faculty, staff, and peer standardized patients

Job Duty Promote the mission and values of Lincoln Memorial University to students, faculty, staff, and the broader community

Job Duty Foster effective, positive working relationships across all LMU Health Sciences programs and departments.

Job Duty Complete required institutional, program accreditation, and administrative reports necessary for university advancement
