Job Description

Overview Sunstone Winery is launching a new culinary program focused on pizza, cold-prep menu items, and pickup-window service. We are seeking a reliable, organized, and quality-focused Pizzaiolo / Pizza Station. Lead to help execute and support our pizza program during this exciting launch phase. This role is responsible for preparing and executing pizzas with consistency, cleanliness, speed, and attention to presentation. The ideal candidate has pizza, line cook, prep cook, or culinary production experience and enjoys working in a fast-paced hospitality environment. This is a station lead role focused on pizza preparation, station readiness, food quality, ticket timing, cleanliness, and communication. Responsibilities Prepare and execute pizzas according to approved recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines. Handle dough, stretch pizza, prepare toppings, manage baking, cutting, finishing, and service timing. Maintain consistency in crust quality, ingredient distribution, cook temperature, and final presentation. Set up and maintain the pizza station before and during service. Keep dough, sauce, cheese, toppings, garnishes, flour, oil, and finishing ingredients stocked andorganized. Label, date, rotate, and store ingredients properly. Communicate ticket timing, delays, shortages, and service needs to hospitality leadership or order support. Work with checkout/order support and pickup-window service to ensure orders are accurate andready for guest pickup. Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work station throughout service. Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, and kitchen reset procedures. Communicate prep needs, waste, remakes, low inventory, or equipment concerns as needed. Support a calm, professional, and team-focused kitchen environment during busy service periods.
Qualification:
Prior pizza, line cook, prep cook, or culinary production experience preferred. Ability to work cleanly, quickly, and consistently under pressure. Strong communication and organization skills. Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation standards. Ability to follow recipes, prep sheets, station standards, and service procedures. Ability to maintain consistency in portioning, presentation, and timing. Willingness to support a new culinary launch environment with flexibility and professionalism. Availability to work Thursday-Sunday, 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Weekend, holiday, and peak hospitality availability required. Preferred Experience with wood-fired, deck oven, or artisan-style pizza. Experience in a winery, restaurant, hotel, hospitality, or event environment. Current Food Handler certification or willingness to obtain certification. Experience with opening and closing procedures. Experience using prep sheets, par systems, or service checklists. Familiarity with counter service, pickup-window service, or buzzer-based ticket flow. Schedule Requirements This position is scheduled Thursday-Sunday, 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Weekends and holidays are required based on business needs, events, and peak hospitality periods. Occasional Mondays may be required when they fall on holidays, holiday weekends, events, or high volume service periods. Sunstone Winery is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Easter. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 30-50 pounds as needed. Ability to work around heat, ovens, sharp tools, kitchen equipment, and active service areas. Ability to bend, reach, carry, push, pull, and move quickly during service.  Ability to perform repetitive motions related to dough handling, topping, cutting, lifting, and cleaning. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment during weekends, holidays, events, and peak service periods.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
