Job Description
Hydro Aluminium Metal is a leading supplier of extrusion ingots, sheet ingots, foundry alloys, wire rods, and high-purity aluminium, with a global production network of around 6,000 employees. With primary metal production facilities in Europe, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and Qatar, and recycling facilities throughout Europe and the U.S., two-thirds of our primary aluminium production is based on renewable energy.

Purchasing Coordinator Job Summary The Purchasing Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting plant reliability and safety by ensuring the timely availability of production, maintenance, and critical spare parts. This position is responsible for purchasing activities, inventory accuracy, and parts warehouse management to prevent equipment downtime and operational disruptions. Safety is the highest priority, and all work is performed in accordance with Hydro's Health, Environment, and Safety (HES) standards. What You Will Be Doing Put safety first in all purchasing and warehouse activities, maintaining compliance with Hydro HES, OSHA, and internal standards Create, manage, and follow up on purchase orders to ensure materials are delivered on time and in full Proactively manage open orders and communicate with suppliers to resolve delays or discrepancies Partner closely with Maintenance, Production, and Finance teams to align purchasing priorities with operational needs Maintain an organized, accurate, and safe parts warehouse environment Perform cycle counts and inventory reviews to ensure data accuracy and integrity Establish, validate, and continuously improve reorder points (ROP) and minimum order quantities (MOQ) Identify and maintain appropriate inventory levels for critical spare parts to prevent downtime Validate maintenance work orders and SAP transactions to ensure accurate issuance and return of materials Utilize SAP for purchasing, inventory management, goods receipt, and reporting Support continuous improvement initiatives within purchasing, inventory control, and warehouse operations What Will Make You Successful Previous purchasing and/or inventory experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment Strong understanding of inventory control principles, including ROP, MOQ, and cycle counting Proven ability to manage open purchase orders and supplier follow‑up Experience working with warehouse operations and material handling practices SAP experience strongly preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities High attention to detail and accuracy Proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability Clear, professional communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams Ability to work in both office and plant/warehouse environments and lift up to 50 lbs What We Offer You Hydro provides competitive pay, exceptional benefits, and a strong people‑centered culture.
