Mechanical Quality Manager -
Construction Projects Location:
Westchester County, NY Project Scale:
Approx. $80M Mechanical Construction Program Position Overview The Mechanical Quality Manager is responsible for driving quality excellence across a large, complex construction project supporting regulated life‑science facilities. This role provides end‑to‑end oversight of mechanical quality—from fabrication and installation through testing, commissioning, and final turnover. You will serve as the primary mechanical quality authority on site, ensuring installations meet contract requirements, ASME codes, and GMP standards. Working closely with construction leadership, inspectors, engineers, and commissioning teams, you will help deliver systems that are fully compliant, inspection‑ready, and documentation‑complete. Primary Responsibilities Direct all mechanical quality control activities for both shop fabrication and field installation. Ensure compliance with contract documents, approved drawings, industry codes, and GMP expectations. Perform and oversee inspections of carbon steel and stainless‑steel welding in accordance with
ASME B31
. Verify proper installation, identification, and tagging of valves and mechanical components. Inspect HVAC, utility, and process piping systems, including pressure testing, flushing, and functional testing. Coordinate, witness, and document inspection and testing activities in real time. Conduct comprehensive field walkdowns using Procore , validating installations against P&IDs , isometrics, and IFC drawings. Maintain accurate P&IDs, manage redlines, and coordinate updates with engineering and field teams. Partner with Project Managers and Superintendents to implement consistent valve tagging and system identification programs. Manage material traceability requirements, including MTRs, heat numbers, and IMER documentation. Oversee welding quality programs, ensuring procedure compliance and welder qualification tracking. Coordinate NDE/NDT activities and review weld documentation and inspection reports. Utilize Bluebeam and Bluebeam Studio for drawing coordination, redlines, and quality markups. Support the use of digital welding inspection tools and custom QC systems to improve efficiency. Enforce Good Documentation Practices (GDP) across Procore, SharePoint, Microsoft tools, Bluebeam, and tracking logs. Lead development of Construction Turnover Packages (CTOP/TOP) including weld records, pressure tests, and material traceability. Support commissioning teams through system readiness reviews, punch‑list closeout, and as‑built documentation. Act as the central quality interface between construction, inspection, commissioning, and project leadership. Drive continuous improvement of mechanical quality processes across the project site. Required Background & Skills 8+ years of experience in mechanical quality control on large construction projects. Deep knowledge of
ASME B31
piping codes and hygienic/mechanical system requirements. Experience working in GMP‑regulated environments , preferably life sciences or biopharma. Strong Background in welding inspection, material control, and mechanical system quality. Proficient with Procore for inspections, walkdowns, and QC documentation. Advanced user of Bluebeam and Bluebeam Studio . Strong skills in Microsoft Office and SharePoint. Experience developing inspection, testing, and turnover tracking tools. Familiarity with digital welding inspection platforms or custom QC applications. Exceptional organization, documentation accuracy, and attention to detail. Clear, confident communication skills with field teams, inspectors, and commissioning groups. Preferred Qualifications AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification. Experience on pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life‑science capital projects. Background in piping layout, mechanical coordination, and MEP integration. Experience supporting as‑built documentation and large‑scale project closeout. Exposure to structured construction quality programs and document control systems. Work Setting This role is based on an active construction site in Westchester County, NY , supporting next‑generation laboratory and preclinical manufacturing facilities. The position combines hands‑on field oversight with office‑based documentation and coordination. You'll work in a fast‑moving, safety‑driven environment where quality, compliance, and teamwork are critical to project success. Standard construction hours apply, with flexibility to support inspections, testing activities, and milestone deliverables. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Tarrytown, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
