What to Expect
This role will be based out of the Greater Houston Area (TX) however will be expected to work in Lathrop (CA) to support early builds and validation for the first 6-12 months. Other travel may be required. Travel plans and reimbursement will follow Tesla's Travel Policy and will be governed by the direct manager. We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated, team-oriented Quality Engineering Technician be responsible for evaluating parts produced on various lines (electro-mechanical components and subassemblies, body in white, welding, powder coat, general/final assembly), and end of line testing in a high-speed environment. Technicians will flag production parts found to be suspect or nonconforming, remove from line and support engineering with containment activities through clean point to ensure Tesla standards are being met. Technicians must be prepared to escalate concerns to the appropriate party and always promote a culture of quality. The purpose of the Quality Engineering Technician is to minimize the number of defective parts that are sent to downstream departments and assist multiple teams in maintaining and improving overall part quality, yielding beneficial results and higher efficiency for Tesla. What You'll Do
Lead the organization and completion of quality trials working with Quality Engineers/Quality Techs and support new line validations with Quality Engineers
Drive the creation and maintenance of Quality Instruction documents
Serve as the on-shift subject matter expert (SME) for process and product specifications that define quality in assigned areas
Assist in the identification and resolution of manufacturing quality issues, contain parts or products as needed, sort parts for quality requirements
Support training and coaching of Quality Technicians on root cause issues/problems and best practices for corrective action implementation and countermeasures
Lead/participate in continuous improvement activities with Process Technicians/Engineers Manufacturing Engineers and external suppliers
Analyze and interpret high failure product data independently, effectively escalating/root causing fall-out alongside line Quality Technicians What You'll Bring
Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
Experience with quality systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment
Experienced in
APQP, PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA
