Job Description

Position Summary:
The Parts Advisor is responsible for assisting customers, technicians, and service advisors in identifying, locating, and ordering automotive parts and accessories. This position plays a critical role in supporting the service and repair operations by ensuring the timely and accurate supply of parts. The Parts Advisor maintains inventory accuracy, provides excellent customer service, and ensures smooth parts department operations. This role operates in a retail and service support environment and reports directly to the Parts Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist customers and technicians in selecting the correct parts and accessories based on vehicle information Look up parts using electronic catalogs and inventory management systems Process parts orders, returns, and exchanges efficiently and accurately Maintain current knowledge of parts inventory, promotions, and pricing Receive, unpack, label, and store incoming parts shipments Organize and maintain the cleanliness and accessibility of parts storage areas Communicate with vendors and service staff regarding parts availability, delivery times, and special orders Accurately document all parts transactions in dealership management software Support service and sales departments by ensuring parts are available when needed Perform other duties as assigned to support department or dealership operations Qualifications & Experience Prior experience in automotive parts role preferred; dealership experience is a plus Working knowledge of automotive systems and parts terminology Familiarity with parts lookup systems and inventory management software Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities Must pass pre-employment background check, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, and drug screening Work Conditions & Physical Requirements Primarily indoor work environment with occasional exposure to warehouse and shop conditions Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move parts and boxes Full-time position with potential for overtime and weekend shifts depending on business needs Occasional local travel may be required for parts pickup or delivery Technology & Tools Dealership Management System (DMS) Electronic parts catalogs and ordering systems Inventory scanning tools and labeling equipment Microsoft Office Suite or similar applications Compliance and Confidentiality Statement This role requires a high level of discretion and confidentiality in handling customer financial information, dealership records, and/or employee data
