Experienced Leasing Consultant
Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Leasing Consultant to join our property management team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for prospective residents, guiding them through the leasing process with enthusiasm and professionalism. Your expertise in property leasing, customer service, and legal compliance will ensure a seamless experience for clients while maximizing occupancy rates. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your skills in property management tools, negotiation, and client communication to contribute to the success of our community. Responsibilities Greet prospective tenants warmly and provide comprehensive tours of available properties, highlighting features and benefits to foster interest. Manage lease or rental agreement processes accurately using property management systems such as Yardi or OneSite, ensuring all documentation complies with legal standards. Conduct thorough tenant screenings, including background checks and Section 8 eligibility assessments, adhering to Fair Housing regulations. Maintain detailed records of client interactions, lease agreements, and property availability through data entry and filing systems. Collaborate with property management teams to coordinate property maintenance requests and ensure units are move-in ready. Negotiate lease terms with applicants effectively while upselling additional services or amenities to enhance resident satisfaction. Stay informed about landlord-tenant law, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), and other relevant regulations to ensure compliance across all leasing activities. Qualifications Proven experience as a Leasing Consultant or in property management, with a strong understanding of lease management and property leasing procedures. Proficiency in property management software such as Yardi, OneSite, or similar tools; familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is a plus. Knowledge of landlord-tenant law, Fair Housing regulations, Section 8 housing programs, and LIHTC compliance requirements. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person; strong negotiation skills are essential. Experience with legal administrative tasks related to contracts, lease agreements, and property documentation. Ability to manage conflict professionally and resolve issues efficiently while maintaining positive client relationships. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in data entry, filing, and administrative processes; proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is required. Demonstrated team management capabilities and experience working within a property management company environment are preferred.
