Position:
We are seeking a Senior Scientist for a full-time position to lead and direct the execution of in-house laboratory and client field projects primarily in the Phoenix area.

  • Project management Most work will be performed in the Greater Phoenix area with occasional travel ( up to 30%) to support projects at other client locations across the country.
Occasional international travel for project work is also likely.
Tasks :
Some examples of the types of tasks this position will complete are: Lead environmental compliance testing and field sampling expeditions Direct field teams and coordinate project activities Operate, troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain advanced optical monitoring equipment Analyze spectroscopic gas monitoring data Prepare technical reports and client deliverables Develop project scopes, budgets, and technical proposals Support laboratory research and design-of-experiment (DOE) studies Present technical findings to clients and internal teams Contribute to the continued development of Spectrum's innovative measurement technologies The ideal candidate will be expected to: Have 5 or more years of environmental sampling or emissions testing experience Have a willingness and passion to learn, observe, adapt to new procedures and technologies Self-motivated and work well independently Thrives in industrial facilities, particularly semiconductor-based facilities Adapts to a strict lab and field safety culture Accurately complete data collection, data reduction, and reporting activities related to the projects at hand Initially coordinate with project managers and complete other tasks as assigned, eventually managing own projects Troubleshoot, repair, and problem-solve opto-mechanical and electrical signal processing issues in a time-sensitive environment Detail-oriented with excellent technical writing and presentation abilities

Bachelor's Degree in the physical sciences (chemistry or physics preferred) or environmental science At least five years of environmental monitoring (stack testing) Strong quantitative and analytical skills Strong mechanical and experimental aptitude Able to work legally in the US Must have a valid driver's license Comfortable working in industrial environments and outdoors in varying weather conditions Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds Comfortable towing or driving equipment trailers over long distances for project work Participate in federally mandated drug/alcohol testing Preferred Qualifications FTIR spectroscopy and optics experience Continuous gas monitoring systems experience Strong attention to detail Strong technical writing skills Project management experience Semiconductor manufacturing experience Application Question(s) please explain in cover letter: Do you possess any of the preferred qualifications for this position?
