Working under the direction of the Aftercare Program Lead, this role assists with student supervision, activities, homework, snacks, cleanup, and daily program routines. The Aftercare Worker serves as a positive role model and is expected to demonstrate responsibility, patience, kindness, and professionalism while supporting students and the aftercare team. Work may take place in classrooms, gymnasiums, playgrounds, cafeterias, and other school facilities. Scope of Role N/A Essential Roles & Responsibilities include but not limited to: Student Supervision & Care Supervise and engage with students during aftercare hours, including activities, snack time, homework, indoor/outdoor play, and transitions Help maintain a safe, positive, nurturing, and respectful environment Encourage positive behavior and follow school and aftercare rules and expectations Assist students with homework and age-appropriate activities while encouraging independence Notify the Aftercare Program Lead of behavioral concerns, injuries, illnesses, or other student needs Treat all students with patience, respect, kindness, and fairness Activities & Daily Operations Assist with and participate in recreational, educational, and enrichment activities Help students transition safely between activities and follow daily routines Assist with snacks while following school policies and being aware of student allergies and dietary restrictions Assist with attendance and student pickup procedures as directed by the Lead Help maintain clean, organized classrooms, activity areas, and equipment Assist with setup and cleanup of activities and program spaces Teamwork & Professional Responsibilities Follow the direction and guidance of the Aftercare Program Lead Work cooperatively with other aftercare staff and school personnel Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to actively participate in the program Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students Communicate respectfully with students, families, and staff Maintain confidentiality regarding students and families Participate in required training and staff meetings Spiritual Formation Encourage spiritual development through prayer during care Model Christian values by fostering a Christ-centered environment Demonstrate a personal commitment through active participation in a local Bible-based church Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Required Ability to interact positively with children of different ages and abilities Ability to follow established routines, rules, and safety procedures Ability to remain calm and seek assistance when a student or situation requires additional support Responsible, dependable, patient, and enthusiastic Comfortable working with preschool and elementary- aged children Able to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team Strong communication and interpersonal skills Willingness to learn appropriate child supervision and behavior-management practices. Ability to communicate concerns promptly to the Aftercare Program Lead Willingness to actively participate in activities and engage with students Commitment to creating a safe, respectful, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all students Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, stoop, kneel, and participate in indoor and outdoor activities; and lift and carry up to 25 pounds
