Job Description

Job Summary and Key Accountabilities:
Childcare Attendants are responsible for the wellbeing of children ages 6 weeks to 12 years within their care and maintaining a safe and fun environment. You will actively interact and engage with parents, monitor children throughout their care and supervision, and adhere to the standards and values of the YMCA. Scope of Responsibilities Plan and implement daily drop-in childcare programs (babysitting) and enrichment activities Maintain awareness and supervision of the needs of the room and ensure the health and physical safety of children at all times Greet community members and guests and make them feel welcome and engaged Manage sign-in and sign-out procedures Foster a safe play environment Organize and set up materials and supplies Ensure proper ratios are maintained Provide a healthy environment by sanitizing toys and play equipment Support facility operations by partnering with local Community Hub leadership to ensure childcare spaces are clean at all times Child Abuse Prevention Supports the YMCA's commitment to child abuse prevention by: Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor Completing all child abuse prevention training as required Commitment to Inclusion Supports the YMCA's commitment to inclusion of all members as required by Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Job responsibilities may include implementing program modifications for persons with cognitive, behavioral or physical disabilities, including but not limited to the injection of medical glucagon to members with Type 1 diabetes in emergency situations. Appropriate training and development will be provided to YMCA team members based on your role and responsibilities. Minimum and Preferred Qualifications At least 16 years of age Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed Top-notch verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills [Bilingual, English/Spanish highly preferred]
