Job Description

Children's Ministry Director Our church, First Baptist Church Somerville, TN is prayerfully seeking a caring, dependable, and spiritually mature Children's Ministry Director to lead and to continue to grow our ministry to children and their families. This person will help maintain and continue development of a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment where children ages birth through sixth grade can learn about God and His Word, become devoted followers of Jesus Christ, and build friendships. Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee children's ministry programs, including Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, mission opportunities and special events.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and encourage volunteers who serve with children.
  • Select or develop age-appropriate, curriculum and activities working with the Nursery and Children's ministry committees.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized ministry environment for all children.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, volunteers, church staff, and leadership.
  • Support outreach opportunities that help families feel connected to the church.
  • Support FBC children in their activities beyond the church by attending school and extracurricular events.
  • Assist in the development and oversight of the Nursery and Children's Ministry budgets.
  • Seek to integrate Children's ministry into all phases of church life.
  • Attend worship services, Sunday School and discipleship events, Wednesday evening Children's Ministry activities and weekly staff meetings. Qualifications
  • A clear commitment to Jesus Christ and the mission of the church.
  • A heart for children and families, with the ability to teach and lead. with patience and joy.
  • Experience working with children in a church, school, childcare, or ministry setting.
  • Experience in a leadership role
  • Strong communication, planning, organization, and teamwork skills.
