Job Description
Peer Support Specialist Emerald City Behavioral Health University Place / Tacoma, Washington $54,080
- 57,200 per year | Full-time | Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m

Ability to use lived experience intentionally and professionally within the peer-support role Understanding of recovery-oriented, person-centered, and trauma-informed peer support Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality Ability to document services clearly and accurately in an electronic health record Ability to work independently in community settings while collaborating with a multidisciplinary behavioral health team Ability to work Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m- 5:00 p.
Responsibilities include:
Build consistent, respectful, recovery-focused relationships with individuals receiving services Use lived experience appropriately to promote hope, engagement, self-direction, and recovery Help individuals identify personal recovery goals and practical steps toward achieving them Support continued engagement in behavioral health treatment and recovery services Strengthen self-advocacy and help individuals communicate their goals, needs, and preferences Support development of healthy social connections, natural supports, daily-living skills, and community involvement Help individuals identify and connect with appropriate community resources Participate in planned community and pro-social activities that support confidence, connection, wellness, and recovery Help individuals develop practical wellness, recovery, and symptom-management strategies within the peer scope of practice Recognize meaningful changes in functioning, engagement, or circumstances and communicate concerns to appropriate members of the treatment team Collaborate with residential staff and multidisciplinary team members Participate in team staffing, service planning, and recovery-focused care coordination Complete accurate and timely peer-service documentation in the electronic health record Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and ethical peer-support practices Peer Support Specialists do not diagnose behavioral health conditions or provide mental health or substance use disorder counseling. Schedule and Work Setting Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m- 5:00 p.
Compensation and Benefits Salary:
$54,080- 57,200 per year, paid twice monthly Benefits include: Medical, dental, and vision insurance through Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield ECBH pays 85% of the employee-only medical, dental, and vision premium Benefits are effective the first day of the month following the employee's hire date 401(k) retirement plan with a 3% company match Employer-paid life insurance coverage of $50,000 Paid time off Paid holidays Mileage reimbursement at $0.
Relevant experience may include:

About Emerald City Behavioral Health Emerald City Behavioral Health provides community-based behavioral health services to adults with complex mental health, substance use, and recovery needs. Our multidisciplinary teams work with individuals where they live and in the community to strengthen stability, recovery, treatment engagement, self-advocacy, and successful community living. Work Location This is a community-based, mobile, and in-person position. It is not remote. The position begins at regularly assigned residential or community locations and returns in the afternoon to: Emerald City Behavioral Health- University Place Clinic 7350 Cirque Dr.
