A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

Job Description

Tranquil Shores, LLC, a nationally recognized and JCAHO accredited, substance abuse and behavioral health treatment center, is seeking a full-time Licensed Therapist (LMFT, LMHC, LCSW ). Must have a Master's Degree. Candidate must be an organized energetic individual with a passion for motivating and supporting clients in their recovery process. This individual will be carrying a caseload of 4 clients, in addition to facilitating groups, individual and family therapy sessions.
Requirements:
Requires a Master's Degree in Behavioral Health Science and either an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, from the state of Florida. MCAP or CAP is preferred. Requires a minimum of three years of experience in a clinical setting. Requires a minimum of three years of substance abuse treatment experience. Conduct psychosocial evaluations, assess for appropriate level of care, develop treatment plans, and continue to assess therapeutic interventions based on resident progress. Assist clients in developing discharge goals and plans, coordinates with community resources to meet client needs upon discharge. Coordinate with treatment team, consisting of Medical Director/Psychiatrist, Director of Clinical Services, Clinical Director, Nursing Staff, other therapists, Substance Abuse Counselors, etc. Communicate regularly, both written, electronically and orally. Attend staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and other activities, which ensure the smooth functioning of center operations. Knowledge of current research and best practice in mental health and substance abuse treatment. Knowledge/experience with evidence-based treatment modality. Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, writing and record keeping skills. Must pass Level II Background Screening and Drug Screening.
