Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful teaching opportunity supporting high school students with special needs in a self-contained, functional curriculum classroom. This full-time contract role is designed for passionate special education professionals interested in making a direct impact on students' lives. As part of a collaborative and supportive team—including two paraprofessionals and a Registered Behavior Technician—you'll guide a lower-functioning high school caseload, deliver engaging instruction, and foster an inclusive classroom environment. The assignment is scheduled from August 4th, 2026, through May 26th, 2027, with the potential for additional planning days at either end. With strong performance, there is a high likelihood for contract renewal for the following school year.
Qualifications:
Active Special Education GaPSC Certification with content coverage up to 8th grade Adapted Curriculum Endorsement required (district may consider candidates with pending credentials) Experience working with high school-aged special needs students, especially in self-contained settings, is highly valued Strong classroom management and organizational skills Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Responsibilities:
