Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Inspire students each day as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive, collaborative educational environment. This contract opportunity spans the 2026-2027 school year and offers a chance to make a lasting difference with high school students who need specialized guidance within a functional curriculum classroom. This classroom is led by a dedicated team, including two paraprofessionals and a Registered Behavior Technician, enabling you to focus on differentiated instruction and fostering student growth. The classroom primarily serves students with lower-functioning needs in a self-contained setting. The district values passionate educators and frequently extends contracts for those who demonstrate dedication and impact.
Qualifications:
Hold (or have pending) a valid Special Education GaPSC Certification with SPED content through 8th grade Adapted Curriculum Endorsement is required Experience working in a self-contained classroom and/or with functional curriculums is highly desirable Strong collaboration skills with paraprofessionals and support staff Commitment to accommodating diverse learning needs Duties include: Designing and delivering adapted instruction to students with a range of disabilities Developing and implementing IEPs, progress monitoring, and maintaining data-driven instruction Collaborating with paraprofessionals and support personnel to provide a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment Participating in planning, professional development, and parent meetings as needed Actively contributing to a positive school climate and culture The role is a full-time position, covering approximately 37.5-40 hours per week, with potential for additional planning days before and after the stated school dates. There is a strong chance for contract renewal for high-performing educators.
