Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a vital role supporting high school students in a self-contained special education setting for the upcoming academic year. This full-time contract opportunity centers on providing instruction to learners with significant needs, within a collaborative environment alongside two paraprofessionals and a Registered Behavior Technician. The setting encourages growth, patience, and creativity as you guide students using a functional curriculum tailored to their abilities.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Active Special Education Teacher certification from GaPSC, including content coverage through 8th grade Adapted Curriculum Endorsement (district will consider those with pending credentials) Previous experience working in a lower functioning, self-contained classroom preferred Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Compassion, adaptability, and excellent communication abilities Commitment to fostering a supportive, structured, and engaging classroom environmentCore Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted instruction aligned with students' individualized education plans (IEPs) Design, implement, and adapt lessons utilizing a functional curriculum Partner with paraprofessionals and the Registered Behavior Technician to ensure student progress Employ evidence-based strategies for behavior management and student engagement Monitor student data, progress, and update documentation as required Communicate regularly with families and educational staff regarding goals and achievements Participate in pre- and post-planning days as needed This rewarding position offers the possibility of extending into future school years for successful educators who make a positive impact.
