Job Title:
Model Based Systems Engineer (Cameo) Job Description This role offers the opportunity to serve as a detail-oriented Systems Engineer on a cleared program, with a strong focus on requirements management, traceability, and compliance documentation. You will use Cameo to model and trace requirements, interpret technical specifications, and align them with certification standards. You will actively participate in the development, validation, and documentation of system requirements while helping to ensure that the overall system meets formal certification and regulatory expectations. An active Secret clearance is required for this position. Responsibilities Use Cameo to manage, model, and trace requirements within a structured requirements database. Develop, maintain, and update requirements traceability matrices (RTMs) to ensure complete and accurate linkage across the system lifecycle. Interpret and analyze technical specifications and ensure they align with applicable certification requirements and standards. Review system artifacts against formal certification documentation and standards to confirm compliance. Author clear and defensible requirements compliance statements to demonstrate adherence to program requirements. Draft, edit, and contribute to system-level documentation, including requirements documents and compliance reports. Analyze Problem Reports (PRs) related to requirements, identify root causes, and develop recommended resolutions. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure completeness, accuracy, and traceability of requirements throughout the system lifecycle. Apply systems engineering processes and lifecycle methodologies to support requirements definition, decomposition, verification, and validation activities. Support model-based systems engineering (MBSE) practices within Cameo to improve consistency and traceability of system requirements and designs. Essential Skills Active Secret Security Clearance at the time of hire. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. Intermediate experience with Cameo, including requirements modeling and traceability. Experience working within a requirements database and trace environment. Strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze technical specifications and certification documents. Proven experience developing requirements traceability matrices and compliance documentation. Familiarity with systems engineering processes and lifecycle methodologies. Ability to work effectively on a cleared program and handle sensitive information in accordance with security requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or other cleared programs. Familiarity with requirements verification and validation (V&V) processes. Prior experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE). Strong written and verbal communication skills for producing clear technical documentation and compliance statements. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a structured, process-driven environment. Work Environment This position is based onsite in a secure facility (SCIF) in Grand Rapids, MI. You will work within a highly controlled, classified environment that supports cleared programs, using Cameo and other systems engineering tools to manage requirements and documentation. Work is conducted in a structured setting that emphasizes security, attention to detail, and adherence to established processes and standards. The role requires regular in-person collaboration with cross-functional teams operating within the SCIF. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Grand Rapids, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $80.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
