Job Summary :
Sterling is seeking a System Administrator to support the DAOS storage system This remote role involves daily administration and performance optimization of the
HPE DAOS
system, which serves as the primary storage for the Aurora supercomputer. The administrator will collaborate with internal teams and HPE to ensure system health, resolve issues, and support upgrades. The position requires strong Linux skills, experience with high-performance and distributed storage systems, and the ability to work independently in a highly technical environment.
Job Duties :
Provide daily remote support for the DAOS storage system Monitor system health and performance using scripts and log analysis Collaborate with ALCF and HPE teams to resolve technical issues Plan and support system software upgrades Participate in regular team meetings and communications via Slack, Teams, and email Diagnose and triage hardware and software issues Escalate cases to Level 2/3 support when necessary Coordinate activities with HPE resources and maintain professional development Complete required training and certifications
Qualifications:
College degree preferred or equivalent experience (military/formal training) Experience operating high-performance storage systems Strong Linux administration and command-line skills Experience with HPC clusters and distributed storage systems Proficiency in scripting for automation Ability to troubleshoot complex storage issues Strong collaboration and communication skills Ability to work independently and within a distributed team Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or genetic information.
