Position Title:
Naval Architect Intern Location:
Metairie, LA Position Overview:
Bollinger is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Naval Architecture Intern for a full-time, on-site summer internship at our Metairie, LA facility. This opportunity is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Naval Architecture who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a professional, real-world environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Engineering department by conducting research and preparing technical documentation. Perform general office tasks with high attention to detail, including organizing reports and maintaining engineering records. Perform structural calculations and weight take-offs, assist in the development of 2D drawings and 3D modeling, as well as create and analyze models using GHS (General Hydrostatics) software. Participate in incline experiments and deadweight surveys. Collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, and other personnel to support various projects.
Qualifications:
Education:
Currently a junior or senior enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Naval Architecture.
Technical Skills:
Basic proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar engineering software is a plus.
Soft Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Work Authorization:
Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in Naval Architecture, allowing students to develop industry-relevant skills, expand their professional network, and contribute meaningfully to Bollinger's Engineering department.
