Job Description

Position Summary Responsible for providing and maintaining a safe, efficient, and therapeutic environment for patients in the Senior Renewal program. The Senior Renewal Unit Clerk / Driver will provide clerical and administrative assistance to the Program Manager and program staff as needed. The Senior Renewal Unit Clerk Driver will assure that transportation for patients to and from the program is provided in a safe and timely manner. Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent Licenses and Certification
  • Valid IL Driver's license in good standing (see requirements below)
  • Certified Nurses Aide certification or mental health technician preferred
  • BLS Experience and Skills Experience working with geriatric and/or psychiatric patients preferred Be age 21 or older.
Have a valid and properly classified driver's license issued by the Illinois Secretary of State. Depending on the size of the vehicle you operate, a CDL may be required. Have had a valid driver's license, not necessarily of the same classification, three years prior to the date of application Demonstrate your ability to exercise reasonable care in the safe operation of the vehicle. Not have been convicted within three years of the date of application of any of the following offenses involving the operation of a motor vehicle: Driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs (DUI) Reckless driving 3 Leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury Drag or street racing Manslaughter Reckless homicide Reckless conduct
Role Specific Responsibilities Clinic Care Aide INCLUDE :
Assisting patients in understanding and completing admission forms. Communicating any concerns or information about patients to the nurse, therapist and/or Program Manager. Functioning as a team member, participating in and providing input to weekly team meetings related to patient care as well as other staff meetings and in-services. Preparing snacks for patients who request them. Assisting in patient groups as directed by the Program Manager/Designee. Always Utilizing Universal Precautions as appropriate according to hospital infection control standards. Attending and completing all required in-services including infection control, fire safety, hazardous materials, CPR. Aiding in emergency situations under the direction of the Program Nurse or designee. Always demonstrating care and concern in interactions with patients and family. Working with patients in such a manner that their dignity is always preserved. Recognizing that responsibility for patient care and safety is always the primary focus. Recognizing importance of HIPAA for patient confidentiality and always understands importance of ethical interactions with patients.​
DRIVING DUTIES INCLUDE
Driving company vehicle to transport patients to and from the program. Assisting patients into and out of the vehicle with particular attention to their safety. Assisting in the planning of daily routes. Coordinating company vehicle maintenance and repair, documents maintenance log, maintains cleanliness of the vehicle (both interior and exterior) and assures that vehicle is always fueled up. Communicating effectively and in a timely manner concerning observations of patients while on transporting and/or on the unit.
OFFICE/CLERICAL DUTIES INCLUDE
Actively supports the mission, philosophy, and goals of the hospital Completing daily patient and census logs. Performing Patient Registration, insurance verification, managing forms for Medical Records, Patient Scheduling, and point of service collection. Copying forms and preparing charts for admission. Using fax machine, filing, answering phones and taking messages as needed. Assisting in restocking snack inventories, ordering lunches daily and assisting in the delivery of lunches from dietary as needed. Readying daily paperwork for therapists and nurse. Breaking down charts as directed by the Program Manager. Delivering and picking up items from various departments of the hospital. Transporting confidential information to/from medical records and/or other destinations in a timely manner, complying with appropriate policies and procedures. Providing input for program growth and activities. Adherence to SIH policy, procedure and the Commitment to Care.
