The Driver/Custodian is a part-time position (not to exceed 19 hours per week) responsible for performing a combination of custodial, kitchen support, meal delivery, and transportation duties for the Senior Services Program. This position maintains the cleanliness and upkeep of the Senior Center facility and grounds, assists with meal preparation and kitchen sanitation, delivers meals to homebound clients, and provides transportation to eligible program participants. Work is performed under the direction of the Cook and Senior Services Director and in accordance with applicable ADSD, USDA, health department, and NDOT regulations.

Custodial Duties:

Sweep, vacuum, and mop all floors throughout the facility; Dust furniture surfaces and window sills; Wash windows, doors, and other soiled surfaces; Clean and sanitize all restrooms and restock necessary supplies; Empty trash receptacles throughout the facility; Raise and lower flags as appropriate for weather conditions; Vacuum and wash program vehicles at the beginning of each month; Maintain outdoor grounds, parking lot, and sidewalk areas free of weeds and debris; Water outdoor plants and trees as necessary; and Pick up, unload, and store donated items.

Kitchen Duties:

Assist the Food Service Manager/Cook with daily preparation and service of meals to clients in a congregate setting; Wash and sanitize appliances, equipment, pots, pans, dinnerware, glassware, utensils, and other kitchen items; return all clean items to proper storage locations; Clean and sanitize kitchen and dining room areas, including tables, chairs, counters, beverage service equipment, floors, and walls; Assist with unpacking and stocking food supplies; and Operate kitchen equipment and appliances safely and effectively. Meals on Wheels (MOW)

Driver Duties:

Assist in preparing and packaging meals for delivery to homebound clients; Load vehicle with meals and other food and beverage items; Deliver meals to homebound clients following a fixed route; Deliver meals to the jail and commodity and food bank items to senior clients; and Coordinate with Program staff to ensure client meal delivery schedules are accurate and current; notify staff of any changes based on client interactions.

Transportation Driver Duties:

Provide safe and dependable transportation to eligible clients within established routes and priorities; Assist frail and disabled participants with boarding, safety belt fastening, and disembarking; Operate vehicle wheelchair lift safely and correctly; and Follow all safety and emergency procedures.

General Duties:

Be familiar with and comply with ADSD Service Specifications and Operations Manual (PINS), USDA food preparation and handling guidelines, applicable Department of Health sanitation regulations, and NDOT transportation specifications and requirements; Assist other staff with lifting and moving heavy or awkward items; and Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.

Knowledge of:

Basic custodial methods, practices, and cleaning products; Food safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices in a kitchen or food service setting; Safe operation of a motor vehicle including vehicles equipped with wheelchair lifts; Applicable ADSD, USDA, health department, and NDOT regulations as they relate to this position; and Sociological and psychological needs of the elderly.

Skills to:

Perform custodial tasks in a thorough and timely manner; Safely operate program vehicles on established delivery and transportation routes; Assist with meal preparation, service, and kitchen sanitation; and Follow written and oral directions accurately.

Ability to:

Work efficiently, accurately, and independently without direct supervision; Perform physical duties including lifting, carrying, standing, and walking for extended periods; Interact respectfully and courteously with elderly clients, program staff, and the general public; Respond appropriately to client needs and safety situations; and Maintain regular and consistent punctuality and attendance. Required Certifications and Licenses Possession of a valid Nevada driver's license with a good driving record. Must pass a background check.
