Technician - Transit

Palm Tran is looking for skilled crafted individuals to perform vehicle maintenance, diagnostics and repairs in a safe, efficient and timely manner. The incumbent in this position performs preventive maintenance and repairs on transit buses, mechanical equipment and support vehicles (both gasoline and diesel powered), including but not limited to engine adjustment, braking systems, steering/suspension systems, electrical/hydraulic parts and associated components; examines maintenance repairs on related equipment to company and/or manufactures' guidelines to preserve the safety and reliability of set equipment. This is accomplished by working alongside a Maintenance Trainer, Maintenance Technician or at the direction of a Maintenance Supervisor as they complete inspections for vehicle deficiencies through work order or the preventative maintenance process. $28.98 per hour (entry rate) - $34.80 per hour (after successful completion of in house training)

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

High school diploma or equivalent recognized certification (GED)Four (4) years related mechanical experience. Must possess a valid Air Conditioning Certification (608/609) within six (6) months of appointment. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Florida CDL Class B with 'P' endorsement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent certification/GED; CDL with Passenger (P) endorsement OR CDL Learner' s Permit with the Passenger (P) endorsement. Transit bus or heavy equipment driving or mechanical experience. (Must include a copy of your current driver's license with application). Four (4) years related mechanical experience. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Must receive Air Conditioning Certification (608/609) within 90 days of employment. Driver's License (CDL)

Hours:

40 hours per week / work schedule to be determined Candidate must be able to work varied/flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Other Information:

Pre-employment includes passing DOT physical and drug test Safety-sensitive position. This position is covered under a Labor Management Agreement. •This position will be classified as a trainee for approximately 6 months, and then evaluated.
