Qualifications/Requirements We are seeking someone for our open 5th Grade Teaching Position. All teachers in the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit shall be certified and /or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan. Teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach. Essential Functions include but are not limited to: Prepare lesson planning materials and classroom for class activities. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varied needs. Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to learn at their pace and in their way. Assess students on a regular basis to check for growth, along with standardized assessments following school assessment schedule. Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, and to determine their priorities for their children for the year. Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use. Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and review of the position. Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence. Stay up to date on Best Practices as it pertains to any and all teaching initiatives The ideal candidate will be working collaboratively with the teaching colleagues in our school. Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for teaching and social-emotional wellness of young school students and their families along with a deep commitment to equity and inclusion. Basic requirements include but are not limited to: Elementary Education Teaching Certificate Prior teaching experience preferred but not required. Strong teaching ability; enjoy working with children. Ability to work well with students and colleagues. Willingness to work with a developing curriculum, as well as contribute ideas to enhance the respective academic programs.
