GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
Under limited supervision, Student Center Assistants will help the Student Life department in overseeing Iowa Hall including the hours outside of normal business operations. These students will also assist in setup of events and space for non-Student Life related events within the student center including the setup and teardown of tables/chairs in various spaces. Students will assist with support of directions and wayfinding throughout the building, and work behind the scenes to ensure successful events and activities. Home base for these students will beat the Kirkwood Information Desk where students will help answer general questions and support with directions and basic services. As a student position, applicants must be enrolled in a credit program at Kirkwood Community College. Most shifts will be from 5 pm to 10 pm, Monday through Thursday. Neither work-study eligibility nor a work-study award guarantees a work-study position. All work-study jobs will go through the proper hiring process.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with setup/teardown of events throughout the student center including tables, chairs, and other related items. Assist students, employees and visitors of the college at the Information Desk on a variety of tasks and responsibilities, including providing directions and wayfinding to specific departments within the building and other areas of campus. Perform routine building checks throughout Iowa Hall. Be the main point of contact during events outside of Kirkwood business hours. Must be able to trouble shoot issues that arise during events. Be willing to learn and have an understanding of the Audio and Visual workings throughout the buildings including lights, microphones, projectors and other. Be willing to learn and operate Student Life check-in system (PEAK) to help track student attendance at events. Work behind the scenes to prepare for and organize each event or activity. This includes folding t-shirts, organizing prizes for events, or similar duties. Perform other related work duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION
Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) work on a computer. Frequent (34-66%) moving, setting up tables & chairs. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS
: Proficiency in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn other programs as needed.
