Job Description

Summary The Gas Service Drafter supports the successful execution of natural gas infrastructure projects through the creation, maintenance, and management of as-built service drawings, and project documentation within drafting and customer systems. This position works closely with Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers, field leadership, customers, and utility stakeholders to transform field information into accurate, detailed construction records that support safe and efficient project execution. The Gas Service Drafter serves as a critical link between the office and the field, ensuring project information is organized, accurate, and available throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities Create and maintain gas service as-builts drawings and job cards, using Corel Draw and other customer-specific software platforms. Interpret field notes, sketches, utility records, customer requirements, and project documentation to produce accurate work-ready drawings. Update existing gas system records to reflect completed construction activities and infrastructure changes. Verify drawing accuracy, completeness, and compliance with customer standards prior to release to operations teams. Maintain organized digital records and document control for design files, revisions, and project documentation. Collaborate with Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers, General Foremen, Designers, and field personnel to gather information required for drawing preparation. Coordinate revisions and updates resulting from field changes, design modifications, and customer feedback. Track project milestones and ensure drawings are completed within required customer and operational timelines. Support the preparation of construction packages and work orders for field crews. Enter, maintain, and audit project information within MWM Mobile and associated customer systems. Submit and manage Miss Dig requests as required to support project development and construction activities. Coordinate with customer representatives and utility stakeholders to obtain information necessary for design and documentation efforts. Review project documentation for accuracy and consistency between drawings, service records, materials, and work orders. Assist with service record research and retrieval of historical infrastructure information. Identify opportunities to improve drawing workflows, documentation processes, and data accuracy. Education & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent required. Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word, Sharepoint, and One Drive. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate project and infrastructure records. Ability to learn and effectively utilize Corel Draw, MWM Mobile, and customer-specific utility management systems, as well as enterprise systems such as ERP platforms. Strong organizational and document control skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, project managers, customers, and utility stakeholders. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify discrepancies in drawings, records, and project documentation. Ability to work independently while contributing to the success of a collaborative team environment.
