Associate Director, Residence Education (Resident Engagement & CARE Response)(Onsite) Hiring Range The University of California, Merced is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Thisrange takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited toexperience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is nottypical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on finalcandidate qualifications and experience. The salary or hourly range the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $76,000 -91,600. Job Closing Date Posting will remain open until filled. This position is fully on-site. About the Job The Associate Director (AD) of Residence Education for Resident Engagement & CARE Response at University of California, Merced playsa pivotal role in enhancing the on-campus living experience for our students. Under the general direction of the Director of ResidenceEducation, this position oversees the collaborative management of Living Learning Communities (LLCs), Residence Hall Association (RHA), andCARE (students of concern) report processing within the Residence Education department. The AD of Residence Education will be responsiblefor supervising a team of up to four live-on coordinators, fostering a supportive and inclusive area of residential communities, andpromoting the academic and personal growth of our students. This position is a full-time, liveoff position with occasional evening andweekend responsibilities and will serve in a mid-level administrative oncall rotation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES GENERALADMINISTRATION
Assist with the development and implementation of various administrative processes related to residential studentengagement and success. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with campus partners within and outside of the Divisionof Student Affairs. Represent the Residence Education department in campus-wide and system-wide meetings and discussions. Collaborate to support co-curricular engagement tasks, including room scheduling, program supply purchasing, outreach/tourcoordination, and other administrative tasks carried out by the Residence Education department. Manage various cocurricular tasksincluding residence hall tutoring, publications, university wide recruitment and outreach events and student educational travelexperiences. Provide financial, CARE, and other ad-hoc reports to the Director of Residence Education and Executive Director ofCampus Life. Assist with the response and management of department communications with residents, campus partners, vendors, andexternal sources (i.e., department email, social media, etc.).STUDENT CARE AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE
Manage CARE reportprocessing within the Residence Education department. Ensure timely response to reports, appropriate resource referrals andwrap-around support to students, and equitable case distribution processes within the department. Foster a CARE philosophy centeredin equity, restorative practices, safety, and overall community wellbeing. Collaborate with critical campus partners serving thewhole student, including Counseling and Psychological Services, Health Services, the Campus Advocacy, Resources & Education department,Basic Needs, and the Dean of Students office, among others. Consult with the Director of Residence Education and otheradministrative staff members on cases with high impact and/or risk. Maintain accurate case notes, records, and documentationthrough the University's student conduct/CARE systems. Participate in crisis response and campus emergency response. Serveon an administrative on-call rotation along with other department leadership providing consultation and support to live-on coordinators andrespond to severe incidents on-site, when required.SUPERVISION AND STAFFING
Coach, develop, mentor, and manageperformance of approximately four full-time, professional live-on direct report staff and support the success of four residentialcommunities. Set expectations and goals, monitor progress, and provide feedback and accountability to direct and indirect reportstaff. Mentor, advise, and train department staff on Residence Education student CARE support and response processes andexpectations. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support professional development opportunities fordirect report staff.LIVING LEARNING COMMUNITIES AND CAMPUS PARTNERS
Support policy development, staff selection, programdesign, and implementation of LivingLearning Communities (LLCs) and academic success initiatives in collaboration with LLC coordinators fromother departments. Coordinate updates, meetings, timelines, and shared processes between Housing Services, Residence Education, andLLC coordinators and faculty advisers. Serve as liaison with various offices including Undergraduate Admissions, Bright SuccessCenter, Center for Career Advancement, School of Natural Sciences, Social Justice Initiative Office, and Undergraduate Education, amongothers.STUDENT ENGAGEMENT AND RESIDENCE EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Manage implementation and updates related to the ResidentialCurriculum, including review of new and emerging practices in residential education programs, alignment of programming expectations withUniversity priorities, and consistent assessment for effectiveness. Recruit and advise residential student leaders through theimplementation of the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and associated programs within the Residence Education department. Manage asignificant programming and student engagement budget administered by the RHA student leadership. Collaborate with RHA leaders toaddress student concerns and improve the overall quality of life on-campus.WRAP-AROUND SUPPORT
Advise individuals andgroups on University policies, student-initiated programs, and feedback opportunities. Mediate student and staff conflicts andserve as a resource and referral agent to campus and community resources. Facilitate and support student and staff connections andpromote a sense of belonging in Residence Education. Engage in ongoing student-centric professional and personal developmentrelated to new and emerging practices, DEIA topics, and other University priorities. Qualifications EDUCATION andEXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution. (Required) Master's degree in related fieldfrom an accredited institution. (Preferred) 3 years of directly related full-time experience in a live-on housing role inpost-secondary education setting or equivalent experience. (Required) 5 years of full-time experience in other areas of studentaffairs, education, community development, or related field. (Required) 2 years of experience supervising professional staff.(Preferred)CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Demonstrated knowledge of residential life practices, including residentialstudent engagement and living learning communities. Demonstrated skills in developing and maintaining interdisciplinarypartnerships. Demonstrated knowledge of developing and evaluating student learning outcomes. Demonstrated skills in activelistening, negotiation, and problem solving. Advanced skills in student group advising and student leadership development.(Preferred) Advanced understanding of professional staff supervision best practices.
